My Favorite Gluten-Free Nail Polish
Self-care is always on trend! I enjoy making time for myself with manis and pedis, and I’m sure you do too. But did you know that most nail polish contains many dangerous chemicals? Even gluten? Check our My Favorite Gluten-Free Nail Polish.
Many nail polishes contain these toxic chemicals: Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Camphor, Xylene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Triphenylphosphate (TPHP), Silicone, and Organic Halides (AOX), just to name a few. These chemicals can cause many health issues for those who use them, I’ll let you Google for all of the ways they are bad for you, let’s get to the good stuff!
My favorite polish is free of ALL harsh chemicals, it’s water-based! It’s called Sophi, even the name is pretty!
My favorite feature? It’s easy to apply and goes on smoothly. I love the Primer, Seal and Shine System, but the best part is the polish lasts for six days without chipping! Yep, six days. I’m not easy on my nails, so six days is a really big deal for me. Sophi is also non-toxic, odorless, vegan, gluten, soy, and cruelty-free!
Applying Sophi is easy but you do have steps to take to get the polish to last six days.
First, wash your hands with soap and water. I use dish soap so it gets all the grease off my hands, then towel dry. Next, apply a light coat of Prime then blow dry on medium heat for one minute. Apply 2-3 coats of your color blow, drying between coats. It’s very important that you use thin coats of polish and be sure to do the tips of your nails. Apply a thin coat of Shine and blow-dry, then a coat of Seal and blow-dry. My nails are almost always dry when I’m done but I try to give them at least 20-30 minutes to set before I do too much. When I follow these steps, I never smudge a nail.
Now let me tell you what not to do…
When I first started with this polish I wasn’t washing my hands as well as I should. I was washing really fast. Don’t do this. Go over each nail with soap, go around your cuticle, and get all the oils off your nail, then rinse and towel dry.
Next, don’t use thick coats of the Prime & Seal System or the color. I did this, the polish will chip. The old saying “less is more” is true!
Don’t skimp on blow drying your nails between each step. One minute is important. I find my nails set much faster and seem stronger when I do this.
Since Sophi Nail Polish is a special formula, you need to purchase Sophi’s nail polish remover. My nails are so much healthier without using acetone and don’t break as much using Sophi Nail Polish. It’s a small investment for healthy, pretty nails!
I hope that you try this brand! I have eight of the colors and have plans to get more…I’m an all or nothing kind of a girl. 😉 Try my favorite color, Date Night, I love black nails and a little bit of shimmer. I’d love to see pictures of your nails. Comment below and let us know how you like Sophi Nail Polish. Enjoy!
