Gluten-free hair care

When I went gluten-free I was unaware of how important Gluten-free hair care was. I didn’t know that my beauty products needed to be gluten-free as well as what I ate. Beauty products need to be gluten-free because if you apply something made with gluten to your skin it will be absorbed into your body and you will have a gluten response just like when you eat gluten.

I have used the same shampoo and conditioner for about five years. It works great and my hair doesn’t dry out; plus my hairdresser loves how it treats my hair. My hair is soft and doesn’t have split ends. It’s not greasy or flat. I use Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner. They are vegan, gluten-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, SLS-free, and phthalate-free. The smell is heavenly and reminds me of the beach. The best price I can find for these is on Thrive Market.

Hair color is a tough one. You want something that won’t dry out and damage your hair. I really love Tints of Nature hair color and have been using it for 3 years. It’s easy to use and it lasts for weeks before needing to recolor, it might last longer if it weren’t for my pesky gray hairs! On the package it says it contains wheat protein, I have contacted the company and they told me it tests gluten-free. I have never had a problem with this or had a reaction to it.

This is from Tints of Nature’s web site:

  • Simply Healthier Hair Colour
  • With Over 75% Certified Organic Ingredients
  • Unique Patented Formula
  • Colour Lock Formula
  • Dermatologically Tested
  • Vegetarian & Vegan Friendly
  • Free From: Ammonia, Parabens, Gluten, Propylene Glycol
  • Cruelty Free
  • No GMO Ingredients
  • Long-Lasting, damage free permanent hair colour

I hope this is helpful to those looking for gluten-free products, I purchase them from Thrive Market, if you sign up you get a free 30-day trial and 25% off your first order. I love Thrive Market and place a few orders a month through them, give them a try and if you don’t like it cancel your service at no charge, they also have lots of gluten and dairy-free items!

If you don’t shop at Thrive Market you can get these at Vitacost and on Amazon. Amazon usually doesn’t have my hair color and the shampoo is way overpriced. I would try Thrive market or Vitacost first.
